Downloadable content refers to any mission or item which does not exist in the base game data and must be downloaded from another source in order to be accessed in-game. While there are two types of downloadable content in the Japanese version of Phantasy Star Portable 2 (missions and items), neither are officially available in the English version. The Japanese download items cannot be accessed in the English version, however the download missions can. For information on playing the Japanese download missions in the English version of the game, please see this article.

Download missions
All download missions are free of charge and can be downloaded from the official Japanese website to be transferred to your memory stick manually. If you are playing the Japanese version of the game, you can automatically download the latest mission pack by simply logging in to internet multimode.

The following information applies only to the Japanese version of Phantasy Star Portable 2. These items cannot be accessed in the English version of the game.
Numerous unique weapons, clothes and parts are available in the Japanese version of Phantasy Star Portable 2 via download from the PlayStation Store. While the majority of these items have a small fee attached to them, there are still others which are free to download. Because these items do not exist in the base game data, when you play in multimode, the other players in your party will not be able to see any of your download items unless they have also purchased the same ones. Players who have not purchased these items will see a default model in their place.
